THIS WEEK AT THE GYM: METCON



Metcon fam - we’re going to take a much needed deload week from our Olympic Strength Cycle.


We should be fairly well versed in what a deload week entails, but just in case: We’ll be taking a bit of weight off the bar to give our bodies the time it needs to recover and repair. However, that does NOT mean we won’t still be getting after some Push Jerks, Squat Cleans, and Squat Snatches - it’ll just be a bit lighter.


With lighter loading, we can really dive into perfecting our technique, instead of trying to lift the most weight we can.

TECHNIQUE OVER EVERYTHING.

It’s no coincidence that the strongest Olympic lifters in the world also happen to have the best technique.

7 Unbroken Bear Complex* (115/75)
400m Run
*1 Bear Complex = 1 Power Clean + 1 Front Squat + 1 Push Press + 1 Back Squat + 1 Behind the Neck Push Press

This is a very fun and challenging barbell complex workout! Bear Complexes are an excellent tool to develop capacity in cycling the barbell, improve grip and overall mechanics, and the caveat of keeping it unbroken will test your grit as well.

Last tested on May 8, 2020, lets see if we can shave off some time!
